So, I recently walked around one of my favorite local nurseries after a big freeze in hopes of finding my wish list plants with minimal damage and came across a philodendron micans with very small but seemingly healthy leaves. They are very pink, so they're going to be placed in my plant cabinet. Is there any tried and true tricks to get these babies popping out new growth?I plan on repotting it in about a week or so because the soil is so wet and cold. Will probably be using the same mix my PPP is in and loving

Aw poor thing. That must have been tough for the greenhouse. I think this one has a good chance of pulling through though. I think it will enjoy whatever you’re using for your PPP. I’m tempted to say not to repot that soon to avoid more stress… but if you think there’s dead roots, it might be better to get in there right away and separate the surviving parts of the plant. Root rot can spread bacteria to the good roots. If you do repot, remove as much dead and mushy parts as you can and put the living parts into a smaller pot. Since the plant will be smaller than before and not using as much water, planting it in the same volume of soil would cause it to stay wet for too long. I hope it starts growing again soon! ☺️

Good thing you repotted then! I haven’t used fungicide myself, actually, so maybe someone else can pitch in on that. I’ve heard a lot of people use cinnamon as a gentle anti-fungal. I’ve tried it a few times. I can’t say if it really worked, but it didn’t seem to hurt. A little bit of hydrogen peroxide mixed into the water in watering days is another thing that’s been recommended to me

This is the ppp. It was almost bare root and those last three leaves are new. Didn't start popping those babies out until after I moved her to an orchid pot with orchid soil, some spagnum moss and some other tropical blend of soil. Now I still water when it's dry but it isn't taking 3-4 weeks for it to do so

I will probably be trying that hydrogen peroxide trick too. That's pretty smart

I wouldn’t recommend fungicide unless you see fungus. Hydrogen peroxide, as recommended, is good to kill bacteria from the rot.

Awesome thank you! Now it's just a waiting game to see how it goes I guess
