Propagating Iresine This is a cutting and clearly it isn’t happy. It doesn’t seem to be dead and the other Iresine I have is dramatic, so I’m hopeful it’ll come around soon. I read that you can prop these in water or soil. I did water with the first one and it did die and this one I’m trying soil. Any tips / suggestions for propagating these cuties? They’re one of my favourite plants! Thanks!

That soil looks like it might need more amendments as it appears heavy and as if it only has perlite added. Soil propagation is great but you will need a well draining soil so I like to make my own as it’s much cheaper! My soil I made is 40% sphagnum peat moss, 30% perlite, 20% earthworm castings, 5% tropical soil, 5% reptile bark or orchid bark. You can find other diy recipes online and take ideas from them all and make your own like I did.
