Anyone know how to propagate alternanthera partytime?
I let my cuttings water propagate for a while until they grow roots, then I move them to soil when the roots look strong. I usually use a small cutting, less than 6 inches
0 LikesIs it ok that the leaves drop immediately? Do you wait a day for them to callus over?
0 LikesDid the leaves drop after you put it in water? I haven’t had that happen but I think it would probably be ok as long as there’s still leaves. I don’t usually wait for them to callous over
0 LikesYou could take smaller cuttings from the existing one to try to increase the odds. What’s happening at the bottom? It looks like it’s already got roots
0 LikesAdding a stake to support it while it acclimates could be helpful!

A friend gave me this plant and I hate it so much I’m determined to make it thrive. It’s such a fickle plant. They like moist soil so I’m going to get a stay damp pot for it. When the soil was too dry (not bone dry) it dropped leaves. I’ve put it under a grow light and it’s currently in a ceramic pot and seems to be happy and is growing leaves from every node.
