I’ve had three golden Pothos babies growing in water for quite a few months now and am wanting to pot them. Any advice?

I potted mine with tropical indoor plant soil and just make sure the pot has drainage holes. Don’t be discouraged if the growth is slower and plant is stressed after potting from a water propagation as it has to grow soil roots now vs the water roots it currently has. I’m switching over to mostly soil propagation now after learning more about pros and cons of water propping. Mine had a stressful transition from water prop to soil but they’re doing great now.

What do you do for soil propagation?

Plant it in good draining soil and a pot with drainage holes and water when it’s dry about first inch in! This says keep moist but I feel like that might be too wet? Idk you can troubleshoot with individual plants Appropriate sunlight that particular plant likes but not direct sunlight. Hormones on ends optional.

I found that adding a handful of soil just straight into the water that they’re propagating in about every two weeks til it’s all just soil helps them adjust to their new environment

Soil being exposed to water for too long is what introduces rot. I’m glad you’ve had luck with that..

i’d recommend transitioning to semi-hydro like perlite or leca before going right to soil. water roots are thin and fragile and can break and/or rot easily. when you do transition them to soil, wait until only the top 1” of soil is dry for the first 4-6 weeks, then the top 2-3” for a few weeks, then about half the total soil volume, to help the roots adjust slowly to dryer conditions
