I’m attempting to propagate a trandescantia with the rotten part cut off. I added root hormone and put in water. Am I correct in doing this? Thanks in advance!

you should be fine ti keep it in water to root. The reason rot happens is because there isn’t enough oxygen getting to the roots or that part of the plant. Water is 2 parts oxygen so it should be just fine.

I root mine in spaghum moss. Works great and doesn’t seem to rot as easy.

It’s important to let your cutting dry out on the cut end. I usually wait a couple hrs and then I put it straight into water to prevent the rot
