Hello! I’ve been trying to propagate this pothos for a couple months now. I tried changing the water and not changing the water. I’ve read mixed advice on that. Anyway! I’m still not seeing any roots growing, either way. It’s still growing leaves and doing its thing just no roots. 😒 Would perlite or soil (prop box with a lid) be better than water? I don’t want to give up on it!

I had similar issues. I’ve been able to get them to root in sphagnum moss, kept pretty moist, pretty much wet the whole time.

It happened to me before it’s was the node that didn’t want to root lol I put it in an tube like glass and put more nodes under water and it rooted in a week !! Try it.

It’s a bit large. The plant may be putting energy into leaves and stems with no energy for roots. I recommend cutting it into smaller pieces with only 1 or 2 nodes. Put a node under water or in moist soil. I use SuperThrive in water propagations and rooting hormone powder in solid potting mix or sphagnum moss. The scindapsus I rooted in soil (semi succulent mix) are doing well after a couple of months. Almost all rooted.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I need to change something bc most plants I have propagated in water would have some form of roots by now. Thanks for the advice!

How much light are the props getting? Natural light only or using grow lights? What temperature are the props kept at?

This one is currently receiving natural light in an east facing window and kept around 70F.

I suspect the amount of light the props are receiving is the issue. I would recommend adding grow lights if you have them and running them for 12-14hrs per day. 36 watt Sansi grow light for Amazon is a great option and pretty cheap. I have a 2 week Exotica prop with a half inch root. A couple months with no root progress is wild lol. Extra light should help a lot here. GL!
