How do I get rid of the brown stuff at the bottom of this test tube. I’ve been changing out the water every 1-2 weeks but there is still this brown stuff, that I don’t know what it is. The root of this Cebu blue cutting is also not white/ pale. Does anyone know the reason for this. Cheers

Looks like algae. Get a bottle brush cleaning tool that is used to clean baby bottles. Soak the tube with diluted bleach and thoroughly rinse. Afterwards, soak in vinegar and baking soda to remove hard water deposits. Test tubes are cute. But, they are a pain to keep clean. An alternative is to run it through a dishwasher. The cleaning agents get rid of hard water deposits and will steam clean the tube. The roots are probably dark from sitting in algae too long. Good luck🍀

Thank you so much for your response. This is very helpful information. I will do this today. Also does the brown algae affect growth?

No, this amount of algae won’t affect it. I recommend a wider and deeper container if you plan to keep the plant in water full time. Change the water once a week or more often when the water gets cloudy.
