I have two questions! 1) I have this tiny bamboo plant that has been in water since probably beginning of October and I haven’t seen any progress. I would like it in a pot eventually and to grow more. What’s the best way to do so? 2) These are the roots on my silver inch plant that I’m propagating. When will it be ready to put in the soil and what’s the best way to do that? I’ve seen people just go directly from water to soil but I’ve also heard that it can send the plant into shock and to slowly add soil to the water it’s propagating in. I’m new to propagating and my mother in law brought a lot of cuttings down for me and I don’t want to kill them!

The purple tradescantia can propagate directly into soil even without roots. So, they are ready for soil. They are aggressive growers. I can’t help much with the bamboo. Placing it in soil can’t be any worse than keeping it in water

This is what it started off looking like and I tried repotting it into something smaller and the propagations are all I have left. They all wilted and died, the water is the only thing I’ve found to keep them alive

You really have to treat them like the succulents they are or they will rot. Over watering is the fastest way to kill them. Allow the soil to get very dry between watering. They droop a bit when they need water. They also love full sun. I live in a very humid subtropical environment. I rarely water the ones outside in pots. They have fine hairs on the leaves that collect morning dew. I started watering when the drought and record heatwave hit last summer. Try again with them. Add a little rooting hormone powder and they should do fine. Use a succulent potting mix or one with very good drainage. Good luck🍀

Oh wow I did not know it was a succulent, a neighbor gave it to us and it we kinda forgot about it and then I downloaded this app and started following its watering schedule! Will do, thank you!!

Take caution with Planta’s watering schedule. You can quickly overwater your plants by strictly following it. The app can’t account for all variables that affect watering schedules. So, use it as a guide to check if your plants need water.
