I’ve been leaving these corms in my alocasia black velvet to do their thing in the main pot, but should I actually separate them? Will they grow better if I give them the hothouse treatment? Thinking I should put them in sphagnum moss or similar and cover them with clingfilm.

I always snip them off just so that the mother plant puts the energy back into producing beautiful leaves! I grow my corms in a container of fluval with the lid on to keep it humid. I haven’t tried sphagnum moss yet but I imagine it would work just the same!
