Just picked up this monstera. First time with these plants not yet in soil. Was rooting in moss. Planning to move it into mix of pearlite/moss/fluval aquarium stratum. How do I know how often to mist/water? Also concerned with black spot on side of stem but it is not squishy nor are any of the roots. All tips/comments welcome. Thanks!

Nice cutting! Your mix sounds good. Iâm a chunky soil kind of person myself lol but if itâs coming from moss, thatâll probably be a good in-between. I would dust the black spot with Ceylon cinnamon or a fungus treatment, depending on if you prefer a gentle treatment or commercial strength. Thatâs very good that the roots arenât squishy! I personally choose humidifier over misting. I feel that misting a plant can leave rot spots if it gathers in a crevice and canât dry out right away. If you do prefer misting, I would make sure you have a circulating fan in your plant area if you donât already. I hope that helps. I canât wait to see updates on that beautiful specimen âșïž
