Really depends on what you’re propagating.

Some people like to wait till there is no water left I’m unfamiliar with propagating in just perlite tho so I can’t be for certain what’s the prop your doing?

Proping lucky bamboo, is easy I have mine growing in water. Pothos as long as it has a node, I belive it should prop. Both should be fine if there’s barley any water, then I’d refill.

i wait until there is barely any water left at the bottom. i’ve propagated snake plants, pothos, monstera, spider plants, peperomia ‘hope’, and string of hearts this way. the snake plants and string of hearts i usually wait a few more days (until the perlite is mostly dry) since they’re succulent
