Hello !! How soon after getting a new plant should I repot ? I don’t want to shock them 😬
I repot depending on the condition of the plant. Plants with overgrown roots that have formed a basket and plant stand gets immediately repotted. Some online shippers require no repotting up to 30 days to claim a refund if the plant dies within that time. Repotting before 30 days invalidates any refund claim. I learned the hard way to quarantine all new plants a month or two to ensure no hitchhikers came with the plants. I repot after the quarantine period, if needed.

Thank you for the info ! Yeah I got mine online and they have 45 day policy but it seems under soiled so I wasn’t sure if I should add some soil.
3 J'aimeThis is going to be an unpopular opinion…but I repot the moment they enter my house. Regardless of if they look root bound or not or the time of year I’ve gotten them at (winter/summer, I don’t care). I want to know exactly what I’m starting with and to make sure any soil with potential pests is removed. I don’t want to have something start to have issues a month in and now I’m trying to play catchup. I’ve had really good success with all my plants. But I know doing it that way is not the recommended consensus on acclimatizing new plants to your home.

I say (generally speaking) to try to wait a week, depending. But a lot of plants don’t need repotting at all.

For me, depends on the plant and if roots are above soil. If rooting seems like the plant said “yea, I’m out”, then repot and or prop. If she’s good, she’s good. I’ll check after a week on roots of one’s left as is.
