when is it time to propagate offshoot spider plant babies? this little guy has been growing for about 2 months now, and has produced many beautiful flowers that have since died

    Whenever you feel like it, you can accidentally knock ‘em off and stuff. They arnt to hard to prop, my mom has done it before with 2 spiderlings as we call them.

    Usually I wait until I start to see little calloused roots at the bottom so I know it’ll be able to soak up water and nutrients on its own but sometimes they are hidden in there and hard to find. I would wait until it’s probably an inch or so larger before cutting it off

    You could keep it connected to the mother plant while propagating in water until you get some roots then cut it off, I’ve found that there’s a higher success rate that way.

    I’ve propagated soooo many babies from my spider plants. Wait until there’s little roots growing at the base!

    I propogate mine way before they get that big, lol. I’m not patient enough. At that size, I’d just plop it in the soil. Here’s a picture of a couple of babies I have propping in water.
