Anyone else ever try to grow a pineapple plant from the top of an actual pineapple? I ready that if you pop the top leafy part off and remove some of the leaves to expose the stalk, you can put that in water and it will sprout roots and you can plant it on soil and grow your own pineapple plant. I figured why not try it. Sounds fun and rewarding if it works. I actually have one with two separate top shoots that appear they could each sprout a pineapple. Of course, if it does work, I do realize that I am a long way off from possibly actually growing the pineapple, but still will be fun. I’ll keep you all posted on the progress.

I’ve heard of this and actually tried it many years ago. I was not successful, but then, I knew zero about plants at the time. I bet you can do a great job! Fingers crossed! 🤞🏼💚

I may try that if this way doesn’t work. I’ll keep the group posted on what happens though.

My partner’s mother is growing one this way. She lives in Florida & it’s growing nicely.

My mom also lives in Florida and she’s started many pineapple plants this way (stalk in water). They have grown to be absolutely enormous and grow multiple pineapples every summer! I believe hers started fruiting after about 3 years
