It’s easier to start off propagating in soil, your plant would be less likely to rot. Good luck, hope this helps!

I’m not quite sure, that’s be a one for google. This kind of plant looks like it should use a soft soil which is ideal for propagation, but that’s about as much as I can tell you. Hope your planting works out!

Could try rooting in perlite. That’s kinda between soil and water. The plant you have in the bigger water bottle roots super easy if you bury the stem in soil and keep it moist

I propagate in water. Spider plant are really easy to root in water. Couple things to remember with water is: (1) change the water every couple or few days to prevent bacteria from growing; (2) use filtered water; (3) use clear glass, like you have above, because ones that aren’t clear are more likely to grow bacteria fast and kill off the cutting. I recently rooted 6 spider babies successfully to repotting. I have 5 more rooting in water still and they have a great start. I also have several pothos, a pink and a white Princess, and a couple new ones in the last two days that I don’t recall the names of off the top of my head. Lol. I also learned, if you start in soil and want/need moisture you can create a small green house effect. Plastic containers with a clear plastic top are great. Then you can add pebbles in the bottom, a couple of inches thick. Put water under the rocks so it does not come over the top of them. Place your little pots on top of the rocks and cover. The water under the rocks create the moisture but since it’s under it won’t create too much dampness in the soil. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Propagate in water until you have a decent root system (not too big though… have the longest root be no longer than your pointer finger). Then plant in soil… when I was starting out, I did the $5 bag of Miracle Grow at Walmart and it did just fine. As soon as you plant it, some leaves will die, but then in a few weeks you will have a bunch of new growth. She will start being leggy af and you will want to cut her back a bit… just use those cuttings for more propagations! Hope this helps!

I start seeing roots in less than 24 hours. Once the roots are an inch or more I pop them back in the pot and the plant continues to fill out! I change the water about once a week, and use tap water with no issues. Whether that’s good or bad, unsure but I’ve had great luck!

For the tradescantia, you have very long stems and all those could turn into a lot more cuttings! Each leaf node sends roots out so you could try splitting each cutting in half so you have more, make sure to remove the bottom leaves as the cuttings will loose moisture through the leaves and because they don’t have roots yet they can’t take in any from the water so you have to balance this. Leave one of two leaves on each cutting and place in a bright spot but out of direct sunlight as cuttings tend to be delicate at this stage. tradescantias root like crazy so you should see roots in a few days!
