i have also been trying to propagate my tradescantia. it has grown roots but it’s browning… it is in the same spot as my succulent on my porch so i am thinking it’s getting too much sun and not enough water… how often should i water it ?

Tradescantia are easy to grow, but they have thin leaves so you have to water more often or it will get crispy. Mine love to be mistes about every other day. It might be getting too much sun and drying out too quickly between watering. Maybe set it in an area with more shade until it gets a little more established.

I have heard they don’t like to get there leaves wet and will brown any areas where water sits on them.

Try to propagate in water! Working super well for me.

i had it in water and then put it in dirt and the water roots have died off and are kinda just hanging out in the soil… i’m hoping it will grow more roots for the dirt

They like to run across the top and quickly put in roots, then, force out the original plant in the pot. So, they like the dryer upper layers of well draining soil. I recommend you propagate in well draining soil. Let that clay pot dry out between watering (or use a plastic pot). Give it bright indirect light while it’s small.
