I took a couple of cuttings from my heart leaf philodendron to propagate. I cut them at the same time, and put them in the same kind of water (distilled), and put them in the same place on my window sill. One is growing roots and one didn’t do anything, in fact the leaf dropped off of it today. Any idea why?

Some take longer to develop roots than others… I’ve had a micans cutting in water for what feels like forever and it’s still alive, just barely pushing a root… others root quickly. As long as it doesn’t turn to mush on you, there’s still a chance it can root. If there’s no leaf, you can place it in a moist medium as a node and try to propagate it that way. Here’s a node I’ve done that with. Patience is key, good luck!
