How long can a cutting go without soil to root in? Its been a few weeks. Although some of my cuttings are already sprouting some roots!

It really depends on the plant tbh - although succulents are known to “air propagate” like yours are :) They pull all the nutrients and stuff they need from the mother leaf

I’ve had snake plant cuttings that took months to root! I’d recommend putting it back and being patient (easier said than done for sure!)

For succulents you don’t need to water or put into soil because the mother leave with provide all the nutrients needed for the plant to grow. You also don’t need to put it into soil because a baby succulents will grow on the bottom of the leave where the root are forming and once the mother leave gets sucked dry and a succulent has formed on the end you can generally pick off the succulent or if you can’t get it off or you don’t want to Risk breaking or ruining the roots you can place the whole leave facing down in the soil with the succulent sprout facing up
