Okay folks I’ve buckled down and spent $10 to start my lifelong dream of starting out and raising my own Burle Marx Flame. I’ve resisted the urge to purchase a $50 beauty many times so I can accomplish this not only for myself but the plant as well. Wish me luck on my journey and I will keep you posted on her journey.
I have five tissue cultures from OLN. They’re all doing great. I wouldn’t worry about that one bad leaf. My Marilyn monstera came with one bad leaf and I just trimmed it off. The there’s something special about raising a plant from a culture. Also, BWH is a great online retailer for pretty reasonable prices on rarer plants.

I just got a Crème Brûlée and a Obliqua Peru TC from them and my opening day is tomorrow as well!

Tissue cultures always scare me away, is it really that intense or is just like propitiating?
1 like I wouldn’t say it’s scarier, you’re just starting out with pretty much a newborn baby.. Just needs extra care, more patience, a controlled environment and extra steps to ensure it is growing healthy and becoming well rooted!

Nice! Mine are still alive! The one that I thought would be a challenge is pushing out a new leaf already! The crème brûlée is losing one of the 3 leaves it had but otherwise doing good.
My burle Marx had browning going on with 1 of the 2 leaves so I had to chop it off but it bounced back! Just a day ago I saw a mealy bug crawling in the soil so I had to sterilize it & change the pot… Now I’m trying out this new soil & so far it is great!
I would buy that just based off the name alone 🤣
