I’ve always water propagate pothos and I know it gives the best results…. 3 and half months ago, I noticed a leaf with a stem was slowly dying so I tugged it and off it came. Decided to do my own experiment seeing if I could prop just a simple leaf and it had this tiny long “hair” that I couldn’t tell if it was a root already or not. But somehow all those months, this leaf stuck it out and continued to be most vibrant dark green, no signs of dying which baffled my mind. Today, I went to do water change and I just noticed the roots are finally out! Guys, what? I’ve always been told pothos are best propagate below nodes. I didn’t know this was even possible? 😳

Many plants can grow roots without a node, but it won’t put out new growth. It will remain a single leaf. Heartleaf Hoya’s are a great example, they’re sold as single leaf props, so they’ll sustain themselves but never put out a new vine/leaf.

Interesting! I’m still fairly new to plant world but guess I’ll have to continue experimenting with it!
