I got these from a friend from her garden, do I just plop them in soil? Or if I need to propagate how would I do that?

What is this?! It looks so cool! By how itās growing I would guess you put the parts with roots in the dirt and let the rest hang down. Or maybe set all the mini plant butts on the soil so they grow roots too? I canāt wait for people with experience with this plant to chime in. Iām so curious.

I do think that the root and the butts would work too, Iāll try that for the meantime

I think itās a trailing ice plant, I was thinking of just putting the root like you said in dirt but the root looks pretty dead and the leaves are kind of surviving off of themselves so letās seee š¬
1 gillaOh ok, I have a version of ice plant! Based on it being an ice plant so a succulent maybe I can help a little. The leaves shrivel when they donāt have water because they are using the stored water. Not all the leaves will recover, but most should. The ones that donāt will be absorbed by the plant for nourishment. I would get the root in moisture asap. Maybe not a bog pot of soaking wet dirt, but maybe a tiny terracotta pot that will dry out fast. You could fill it with succulent dirt or even rocks. Just something to anchor it in the pot and start providing moisture. The roots will form more root hairs when they sense moisture. If you use succulent dirt, maybe water it after it dries out for a day. If you use rocks. Probably water it once or twice a day to stimulate root growth. Let me know if this makes any sense.š š¤Ŗ
0 gillningarI have used this method to get roots to grow on a lithops for my mom. Iāve also used this method to reroot succulents that had been neglected for a while. This is also the method I use to root my ice plant cuttings. So hopefully it will work.š¤
