Hello! I bought this beautiful begonia today from Lowe’s and I’m wondering if leaving these little wire ties with these steaks will stunt the growth? I’m a newer plant momma so really advice regarding this baby would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone's Tuesday afternoon it's going well. I had just stopped by Home Depot to get some perlite and orchid bark for my PPP. I had seen this beautiful, huge birds of paradise plant, and I've been wanting one for a while and desperately searching... I saw it and noticed that it wasn't in good health and it was 50% off. I'm going to try to save it and grow it back to health. I looked at the routes in store and they seemed pretty healthy. The new leaf is perfectly fine. It's just the bottom leaves that have some damage . I'm going to put it in Orchid mix as well as mix in some perlite and regular potting soil. Let me know any other tips to keep my baby alive and thriving!!

Hi everyone. I’m new to planta and caring for plants! I’ve had a few plants here and there but never actually looked into caring for them. I have my own home now and a lot of time on my hands so I decided to give it a try again! I’m really hoping I can go from a black thumb to a green thumb with patience and a lot of learning. I got this Fiddle Leaf Fig at Lowe’s on the clearance section (probably not my finest decision) but I said why not. The leaves have brown spots, the tips of the leaves look crinkled, it has some small pests. I cleaned the leaves, transplanted it into a better pot since the original was overly damage. So here we go. After cleaning the leaves and letting it sit inside my home next to a window for a week it’s looking a bit better.

Hi all, firstly thanks so much for the help on my previous post (which, for additional information, was almost two weeks ago and was asking about thrips). This will be a long-ish read but I would really like to provide as much information as possible for you all! I had been convinced that the cause to my string of hearts dropping a lot of leaves was thrips, as I found lots of black dots on the underside of some of the leaves and thought I had even seen one itself. But I am having second thoughts. Since then I sprayed the plant with a mixture of neem oil, water, and castile soap (which contained natural peppermint oil) as advised. It’s only been two weeks, but I have no longer seen the black dots or any bugs themselves. However, my plant has rapidly declined in health - and dropped pretty much all its leaves (some of which have been photographed below). The leaves it drops have slightly translucent patches, which are often crinkled, and the underside of the leaves (and it can’t be slightly seen on the top of the leaves too) have turned a dull grey as seen in the picture. In terms of light, this plant is hanging in front of a south-facing window. My country doesn’t get much light in the winter so I keep it there in hopes of getting as much light as possible on the few sunny days. I am hoping to add a grow light to all my plants soon. In terms of watering, I have not watered it in over a month as the soil has not dried out yet. When I last watered it, I let it soak up water from the bottom. It did seem to be slightly overwatered which is why I’m letting it dry out. I would have expected it not to be overwatered still - currently, it is dry on the top and damp underneath (but not wet). Its roots look healthy as well and there are no signs of root rot. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what could be the problem, and what I can do to help? If you need any more information let me know. Thank you!

Hello, Please could anyone give me any advice on how to save this plant? It looks like it’s leaves are dying but there are new parts also growing. I’m thinking a bigger pot? Thanks 😊

I’ve had this aloe plant for almost four years and it hasn’t been doing too well this past year after moving. It looked like the bottom leaves were rotting so I changed soil from a heavy soil to a succulent soil, and chopped off the bad leaves. But now I’m just noticing these strange black dots all over it, is this indicative of some pest or disease and what do I do to treat it? This is my very first plant baby and so it’s hard to not fret over it lol.

Unfortunately this is not a plant recovery story, it’s a plant dying story. I used to have a fern named Ferny but it died 😢😢 I’m a black thumb, so I knew this would happen eventually. Not good at taking care of plants. I won’t be getting another fern any time soon. My heart is still broken

Recently purchased this praying plant last week. When bottom feeding a week later, I noticed some roots coming out the bottom of the pot and therefore decided to repot into a bigger pot. I used a soil mix of 4 parts potting soil, 4 parts perlite, 2 parts orchid bark and I also added earth worm droppings. It’s been a day and plant looks like it’s not doing very well. First picture is when first purchased, second picture is how it’s looking now. Any advice on how to get it back growing upright? I would like to add that I did water with tap water.

Saved her off the clearance section at Lowe’s, she’s a Syngoniym!! She looks unhappy and I’m a new plant mom! Any advice on how to get her a little happier again? I’ve saved a few plants before and they’re thriving, but I’m new to Arrowhead plants! It says on the tag low light and I read somewhere that she doesn’t need cleaned in terms of dying leaves? … but I’m not sure if that’s accurate anything helps! I think the “wick and grow” methods at Lowe’s overwaters the heck out of plants and I’m sure that’s part of it. Her soil has been drenched for god knows how long! I’m sure she’ll be okay especially since she has some beautiful leaves but any advice helps!!

It’s safe to say that after me cutting all my orchid’s root-rotten roots and fully repotting it, and a few months of neglecting it completely, and after a few months of me nursing it back to health, my orchid’s finally creating more roots and flowers! 🥳

Heavily pruned my Calathea Orbifolia, I did this to remove dying leaves that I didn’t think the plant could recover, and to lessen the load on the Calathea because I just repotted it and cut its roots in half (the roots molded to the previous pot shape & I heard this is bad) So hopefully it will start to recover. I think it’s not doing the best right now mainly due to humidity, I live in North Carolina so I am in the south but not south enough for this plant to be okay in the winter months, so I’m doing what I can.

Hi everybody! Im not great at gardening and i manage to kill most house plants I have. Im attempting to keep these plants alive but their watering schedule is quite difficult to understand. For my arrowhead plant I usually water when it begins to droop but recently its been drooping a lot and moving its leaves towards the sunlight despite me watering it. The leaves are also yellowing!!! Im not sure whats going on with my creeping charlie plant but it really does not look healthy. As well i just got a new (shrimp plant i think?) and I dont know how to take care of it, i got it from my schools plant science club and its leaves are already drooping and falling. Sorry for the long post, just curious what tips you guys have as well as how to care for and rehabilitate these plants. Thank you!
