I’m looking for some advice on my African violet. I’ve cared for and grown African violet a little over two years. My violet was under the same care as the rest and is the only one infected so far. I am asking for advice because I’m not sure what happened and would like to prevent the rest of my violets from getting infected too. I’m not sure if it can be saved or not. If anyone has any suggestions or advice. I’m open to all.
Looks like possible root rot or possibly just leaves aging out. Do the leaves turn a nasty squishy texture (rot) or tend to become dry and crunchy (age)? If it's rot, repot. Assess the roots and use sterilized trimmers to cut off anything dry and dead or squishy and rotten. Also trim off the visibly unhealthy leaves. Treat the roots with hydrogen peroxide. Replace all soil, and add some perlite or cactus soil to the very bottom of its new pot (this helps increase drainage and will help prevent rot from happening again.) The rest of the soil can be a potting mix or african violet mix. I'd also recommend taking a leaf cutting (with freshly sterilized cutters) from the healthy section to propagate, just in case the rot spreads. Continue regular care, being careful not to overwater or get the leaves wet
