Is it a typical snake plant or one with some sort of variegation? The absolute best bet to create more snake plants is to divide an existing plant - like by separating pups from the mother plant. It’s just easier and keeps any variegation in tact If you’re trying to propagate by cuttings, I’ve had the most success putting them in cactus, palm and succulent soil and misting the top of it regularly, like 1-2x per week. However, snake plants are notorious for losing any variegation when propagated by leaf cuttings.

Okay, thank you! I think I’ll be able to try both but I was hoping to do cuttings.

I’ve had the best luck with just placing a cutting in water. It took awhile for roots but was easier to manage.
