help needed! have maybe failed on our first nerve plant 😅 my partner picked out this fittonia in a plant shop sale the other day and i may have somehow killed it already.. i know they’re meant to be dramatic plants however i think this one is an ill gal. • checked roots and soil when getting home, no pests ✅ • high humidity room, part sun ✅ (small bathroom) • went droopy, googled, saw it was probably thirsty, gave it a drink ✅ (despite my constant fear of root rot) • drooping got worse… checked roots and they are thin and browning ❌ • have repotted into a smaller pot with some grit and cinnamon added to houseplant soil 💬 do you think it has a chance of surviving?

They like lots of light and to be watered frequently (when you squeeze the soil and water doesn’t drip out). Also check the pot isn’t too big for the roots. Its either really under watered or has root rot if it dried out too much and then had a good watering

I think it will perk up within a couple days. Mine are super dramatic when they want water. I actually keep most of mine in terrariums because they like the humidity and it keeps them moist for longer, but the one I have outside the terrarium is also healthy, although a tad dramatic. Here it is before and after watering.

I bought a nerve plant when I first started trying out houseplants. In fact, this app did not recommend I have this plant because it’s “difficult”. I think it’s growing well because I have it in a self watering pot with a wic to draw up the water. It’s under a normal light (not a grow light) that we have on almost all day, and I mostly ignore it until I notice the water is gone. It seems to be thriving, enough so that I’m propagating it to grow another one. So all that to say, maybe try a self water pot!
