Why is my spider plant stem all browny and weak one day in soil , i gave it the tiniest water and ensured its fully drained? I did pull the stem up and it csme up likr this? Any way it can recover

    What kind of soil is it in? Is this a newly potted baby plant taken from a mother plant?

      Its a soil mix i bought from soil ninja , the plant was from the mother but was propgating in water for about 3 weeks , the soil is not dry nor wet

    It does look like root rot to me. When I pot up my baby spiders, I tend to keep things really basic, a multipurpose or potting compost and I remove the baby plant from the mother when it's got around 5 leaves and some small roots already forming and then straight into the soil that I've already watered. Compact it down so it's nice and secure. That's it. Ignore it until it starts telling you it's thirsty again when it's leaves go a pale green, then more water. As for this particular one, I'm not sure that it will spring back. Maybe try again with another one, but try putting it straight into soil instead making sure it has already got it own little roots.       Thanks! I have sterilised the soil incase any pathogen was present and ive just added a new plantlet. It probably was root rot as the stem and roots went brown and mushy
