There are probably some ancient farming instinct in there (happy plants = crops aren't failing this year), but you might look into how dolls are used in therapy; a lot of times restoration/rehabbing is a way that people process through grief or trauma. You'll find the most literature on dolls because they get used as therapy tools, but rehabbing anything is often a matter of "i don't know how to heal myself, but i can help heal this smaller problem for an object or living creature i empathize with"

PlantLovingGirlieI find it extremely satisfying and rewarding watching a plant get a second chance at life. I think it’s really awesome seeing what some TLC can do and then it’s like “oh wow I did that!” It makes me so happy seeing them do well

Me too! I admire their resilience, as well. I am rooting for the absolute craziest tiny props right now-- trimmings I absolutely should have just composted that are slowly, slowly becoming pothos and monstera 😂
