I have a question about my draceana corn plant . So I got it last spring it didn’t look great but looked salvageable. the plants leaves are brown & crunchy as well as the stem . So to me that sounds like under watering . I did a light press on the cane & it seems like the cane is loosing mass . My question is would you say it’s done or on its way out or should keep watering it ?
are you able to take any pictures? that would help diagnose :)
좋아요 1개 I’m thinking it might be rot not really sure I’m not smelling anything & the stalk isn’t mushy but when I got it it was wrapped in paper when I got it home & took the paper off many of the leaves needed to be removed there was a smell at that time coming from inside the leaves.
I recently picked up a Draceana I named Henry and the helpful human at the shop told me they don’t like something in our tap water and to use distilled for him.

Theyre sensitive to Lime. I have fish so I put a few drops of the tanks water conditioner in the watering pitcher. ( they sell it pretty cheap on Amazon but you can get it at Petsmart too). My hobby with plants is to save them from Lowes and Home Depot, and I rescued both my corn plants to the tune of $1.00 each. No joke. Mind you, these are rescued, so Im aware theyre not ideal for the species. ( pic incoming)

I ended up cutting the stems off they were pretty crispy so hopefully I’ll grow more back if the cane doesn’t dye on me . I do use water conditioner . I’m thinking maybe I wasn’t able to get rid of all the mold & maybe rot when I brought it home . The inside of the leaf floret was really musty smelling .
