Got a pothos cutting from a plant exchange a couple weeks ago and was super excited about a new leaf that was budding. Checked on the plant today and it looks like something took a bite of it?? None of the other leaves on the plant are touched, and there’s also nothing on my other plants. Could this damage be from before I got it or from a pest? I’ve killed a couple gnats (or fruit flies, I’m bad at telling the difference) that have been hanging around the plant baby. Do they eat plants??

    To me it looks like damage from before. Something similar happens to me when I took a cutting from a Monstera. Unbeknownst to me the stem was already working on a new leaf. When it finally came out, half of the leaf was gone and looked like what you have there.

      That’s a relief! I think the soil does have gnats so I’m treating that just in case it’s bothering the little guy.
