Hi guys, I got this plant (I believe she is a Begonia) from an outdoor market over a month ago. Since then I have repotted her and water her once every other day/ give or take a couple days. Her soil does not retain water well and she has always had dry leaves, but now her flowers are starting to turn black. My room gets direct sunlight everyday for a couple hours. What should I do to care for her? She seems to be getting worse and worse.
Never get water on the leaves; that fuzz can trap water. Repot (back into same pot) and check for root rot. If you see signs of that, then you overwatered. (Treat roots with hydrogen peroxide to kill the rot, water less often.) If the roots seem fine and actually too dry, add some sphagnum moss to the soil mix to help improve water retention. Do a 20 minute bottom-watering soak after the repot to help it re-hydrate, just make sure it drains fully after the soak
