Viney plant Hi I got this plant a few months ago, unfortunately I don’t remember the name. And I’m hoping someone can help me figure out the problem with it. The top of the plant, right by the soil. Is dried to a crisp. But the vines hanging down seem like they’re doing fine. My place gets really hot at night so I have 2 fans on. I figured that maybe this plant got really dry at the top because of the fan. I stopped using the fan right by this plant last week. The soil is damp right now because I just watered it. Does anyone have any suggestions of what the problem could be? And how I can help this plant recover?

This is a tradescantia zebrina, and it’s pretty normal for the tops of the vines to drop their leaves. I’ve found that mine need to be pruned pretty often, and I just add cuttings straight back into the soil.

So I should cut all that out and put the healthy cuts back in the pot? Will it just grow roots on its own

I put them in water for a few weeks to grow roots before I put them back in

If you have at least one node in the soil, it will most likely root. They root faster in water, but I’ve found that they struggle with the transition from water to soil.

I would suggest moving so it get more direct light or getting a grow light. And I would take off those dead leaves too!
