Help my sad new orchid!! I was gifted this orchid last weekend. When I got it home, I found it had been sitting in an inch of water for no idea how long. It was looking healthy but had a few roots that were visibly yellow/brown and mushy. I trimmed off the yucky roots but now today it’s looking very dehydrated and limp. I get that fewer roots means less moisture, but the soil is still somewhat damp so I’m not sure if I should give it a few ice cubes or just let it acclimate to the root trim for a few days?

    I would let it acclimate as the lost root will not make very much of a difference. I would wait until at least Sunday before you put water or an ice cube. Pretty moth, looks like a good spot and hope for a quick recovery!

    Stay away from ice cubes!! Use lukewarm water when needed. I would use orchid bark or some type of well draining medium and place in a well lit area. 😊

    A good repot would probably do it some good! If it was sitting in water it’d be a good idea to get a good look at the roots for any rot. Many advise not to repot while flowering, but I’ve had success repotting mine while flowering since I wanted to avoid rot. Often orchids will come from the store with a weird cork/spongy piece in the soil that is good to get out of there
