Luckily, all my plants are doing well, however, I have been dealing with quite a few more gnats than normal and I’m wondering if anyone has any tips on getting back to as little as possible? In reality, I know I have a lot of plants and am going to have some gnats but it’s getting bothersome now and I want to fix it before it starts affecting the plants. Any tips are welcome, thank you!
I dont have 200+ plants in my house like some enthusiasts do, but I have close to 70 indoors. I went fron having lots of gnats when I started out a couple of years ago to having seen one yesterday for the first time in MONTHS. I use the Bonide pest granules as a systemic in all my indoor soil. I also mix H2O2 in my water when I water plants. 4 parts H2O to 1 part H2O2. Like I said, I have seen the first gnat in months in my house yesterday. I dont see them anymore, really!

I had a breakout a year ago. I tried everything these forums suggest. Sometimes it would knock them down, but they would return to some degree. I used mosquito bits tea every watering for a few weeks. Kept Zevo plugins going to judge the level of numbers. I also put the yellow traps in to see which plants were the problem. It took a few weeks to get rid of them all.

i see a lot of people recommend the mosquito bits but i haven’t tried them myself i’m currently just using the yellow sticky traps 🫠🫠🫠

People recommend mosquito bits but honestly, I prefer the dunks. This has completely cleared the gnats from my collection. Warning tho, it is not fast but it was pretty much my only option as most treatment are banned in my country. You take the dunk and leave it in your watering can. Once it starts falling apart, you change it for a new one. The issue with bits is that they can absolutely mold in your plant so you need to go the extra mile and remove them before using. As I said, I am gnat free and my plants are all in 70% humidity and some of them with moss poles.
2 Me gusta The other thing I’ve done is go the extra mile and bake the soil I’m using if I’m uncertain about it containing gnats.

1 me gustaThis is what I do for adult gnats. It will control the adults but not the eggs. For that you have to treat the soil.
