    I wonder if they would do better in smaller pots? Have you checked their roots?

      Yes they have both been repotted quite recently. I definitely thought the one on the black pot was going to die and I was so disappointed as I had made it a gorgeous mixture... And then the other day in a matter of hours she sprouted numerous tiny leaves. So darling.
