Hi everyone! Update: the kalanchoe got powdery mildew yet again. She is overall very sickly and survived a whole lot, pests, molds, ect. over the past year. Do you have any advice for starting one over from scratch? Do I cut everything down to a stump? or propagate? You think this one has a chance at a respectable afterlife? Thank you guys! I'd really appreciate any advice on this one:)
I would take a look at it's set up. If it keeps reinfecting with fungus, either it's staying too wet (needs better drainage) or there is not enough air circulation, possibly both. You could cut it back, but since it's a fungus it'd still be in the dirt and on the plant. I'd dump everything, wash the plant completely root to leaf with 1:3 peroxide dilution. Then replant and treat with an anti-fungal (or the peroxide dilution) ever 3-4 days for 4-6 weeks. Make sure you sanitize the pot, if you're putting it back in the original.
1 like Thanks for the advice! I'm at my wits end when it comes to her: her soil is dry, as I made sure not to overwater, and she's in a porous terracotta pot. She's right in the window, getting bright indirect light, she's also right above the heater, which dries things up. And the strangest thing is that every other plant is in the same type of pot, soil, and location, and doing great :/ I'll check her roots and the drainage today, thanks again!:)

Sometimes I feel that some plants are just “born” sick and never really fully recover or thrive, almost like the genes are just spent with the constant cloning that is done. Hybrid plants (having two different plant parents rather than just one) seem to be more hardy and thrive more often and harder to get pests and diseases
