Sinister Biscuits
She’s got fungus gnats and I don’t know how to quarantine her. I’m already buying diatomaceous earth but I’m frustrated and worried that she’ll infest the others. Edit: it’s the pothos 😭

MichaelThe spring really brings out the pests, all new soil comes with them. I have so many gnats right now. I'm frustrated as well!! Don't water when planta tells you. Make sure your plant really needs it and start watering from the bottom. Let the plant soak for a while and then make sure its done dripping before putting it back in the decorative pot!! I've been looking for some things at the few stores I have and I found this!! It won't hurt your plant and it will also help with the gnat problem...still bottom water.

I haven’t repotted her so she came with the soil from the plant place - I will try this method

have you tried hydrogen peroxide (3%) with water? water it with that as usual. the hydrogen peroxide will kill all the eggs & larvae. if you're consistent, they will eventually die out.

also try replacing just the first 1-2in of soil with perlite, orchid bark, etc or other dry medium that gnats won't be able to lay eggs in if you want a quicker method.

I haven’t tried that at all. I did a quick test to see which plant it was and I kept finding them by my computer (where Minnie sits) and when I sat her outside for the rest of the afternoon, I saw no bugs. Brought her back in, IMMEDIATELY saw gnats again.

definitely give the hydrogen peroxide a try. you could try a 1:3 or 1:4 ration of hydrogen peroxide to water, it will take a few weeks but it should kill the larvae and eggs & the hydrogen peroxide will provide good oxygen to your plant! just make sure it's diluted. i use it sparingly as a preventative.

I just took off the 2 inches on my pothos plant and replaced with orchid bark. Gonna try the hydrogen peroxide as well for the next watering

fueyOne of my pothos came with fungus gnats from Home Depot and I just took him out and sprayed his roots with water and repotted. It wasn’t my soil, it was the stuff it came with had latched onto the pieces of soil that I left on the roots and whatnot (lazy repotting, didn’t think anything of it), and the gnats got into my fresh soil. All I had was adults for 2 days or so after and they have never dared enter my home again! I also LOVE the Zevo traps for picking up any adults flying around. I never had to isolate my pothos everyone else was fine, it depends on how early you spot it ig
