Got this Bromeliad today... its roots are dry and hard, it was in coco moss... thats it and it is pale. I took it out of the coco and some of the roots were intertwined in some chucks. I have no clue how to care for these so i put it in a glass of water hoping for new roots. It has some water in the leaves at the bottom leaves. ANY advice on these would be greatly appreciated. TIA
They are epiphytes, do not keep them in water or soaking wet, it will rot them. The coconut it was in was fine. Otherwise you can make a chunky mix, I've used an orchid cactus mixed together. I used to use them in dart frog cages. The cup in the leaf center should ideally have some water, it's why the frogs love them, to lay eggs in. Bright indirect light and they do prefer ot warmer depending on species, like 75-80 is what i had mine at

0 J'aime Just plant it. They do not have big root systems being parasitic.
1 j'aime I've had a few that had no roots, and lived perfectly fine after being planted. A lot are sold that way, just bare
