Just a little happy appreciation post. I got this calathea orbifolia a little over two years ago (first picture) and then got into a bit of a plant burn out and it ended up in a really dark corner for about a year only being watered about once a month. It all died back except from 3 leave. I’ve recently rediscovered my love for plants / moved the orbifolia to a brighter spot and showed it a bit of love and look at the new growth!!! One new leaf and two new shoots popping up. I was planning on repotting in a smaller pot however I’m scared to do so with how dramatic I’ve heard these plants tend to be. Any tips on how I can encourage her would be great! :)

    Just keep up with the bright indirect light and add more humidity! You can increase the humidity by either buying a nice one, looking for one on Facebook, or using a pebbletray. (which helps, but if you’re really getting into this Plant hobby I highly recommend a humidifier) Calatheas love humidity and to have evenly and consistently moist soil. Especially since this pot looks so big and like the roots are probably quite large. Just remember not to make the soil wet. If you’re using your Planta app then it will be very easy to find a good watering schedule. Just check the soil every single time it reminds you to water and if it’s too wet, then snooze the reminder, and if it’s too dry, mark that you watered it a day before, so that the schedule will adjust

      I call my Calatheas my queens because they are so dramatic! If I am a day late to water them the yellow and crisp on the edges! But with all these tips they are perfect and getting massive fast!
