Anyone have suggestions on bringing back a stromanthe plant that is oddly really healthy on one side and the other side halfway dead? I’ve tried just about everything and I do make sure i rotate since my apt is pretty much half and half with sunlight.
Have you tried any fertilizer?
0 likes Yup! I’ve tried watering more, less, added fertilizer, trimmed the leaves, cleaned them. lol I’m stuck!

I have yet to figure out these plants. I have one that was super vibrant and beautiful and I gave it everything it could ask for. Plenty of light, distilled water, I’ve never repotted it and it’s in soil it’s supposed to like and I give it fertilizer that doesn’t have salt in it cause apparently it hates salt. She still looks faded and poorly even with tons of new growth all the time.

I would check roots and also maybe it needs more or less light, no direct sunlight but they really like bright indirect

How's the humidity in your home? It sounds like you've done just about everything lol. I have a stromanthe and a few other prayer plants and I've had better luck than most (I had no idea what a finicky reputation they had when I got them!)—I do use distilled water to water them as well, but the humidifier made the biggest difference when I noticed things getting a little crispy at the edges, especially as the seasons changed. (Other options for increasing humidity: pebble trays, grouping plants together to create a microclimate, or even putting little dishes of water nearby.) I'm also going to test out a self-watering planter on one or two of my prayer plants—I've heard that this family of plants can do really well in those since they like to be a little moist always. Can report back with any findings!
1 like Thank you, Olivia! I actually have zero humidity and think that’s part of the problem? I do use a spray bottle every few days on the plants and try to keep them all at least damp. It’s dry as heck though and I live in a 5th floor condo in the city with a lot of sunlight and all hardwood floors. Needless to say, everything does dry out more often than it did before I moved a year ago haha. Maybe a humidifier(which I was thinking of getting before the winter months anyway for my allergies) would help? Keep me posted on your findings and I’ll do the same!
