I bought this Stapelia gigantea online and it arrived yesterday all wilted and sad. I thought a good drink would perk it up but no dice. A little time in the sun didn’t help either and then I went to move it and one of the stalks just pulled out of the soil. It’s all root rotted! Is there anything I can do to save even part of this plant at this point? It looks better in the photo than it really is because the chair is supporting its droopy ass.
Oh sad... Well if you think it's that terrible... I would cut the stalks a good distance from the root. Let them callous for 24-48 hours... Then insert them into a very dry airy substrate maybe mostly pumice and only a little something else... See how they go... But if the rot is up in the stems it could be tough to turn around
2 likes But succulent can turn it around with rot if the problem is immediately eliminated. Definitely pull them from the wet soil. Not a second longer in that stuff. And I would cut for sure! Then after callousing put them in a dry blend!

How did it go? Mine is 22 years old and nearly died 10 years ago from my own over watering! I brought her back from the brink from two small hail-Mary cuttings. Hope yours is making a comeback!
1 like I almost killed my new stapelia scitula but it's since bounced back and recently actually produced a little growth haha
1 like I haven’t seen any new growth yet but it seems I’ve managed to stop the rot and I think it’ll make it.
