Do any of you think my birds of paradise is done for? I had to replace the soil about 2 weeks ago because it was infested with fungus gnats, the roots and soil weren’t dry when I repotted her so I didn’t feel the need to water it. It recently had one of the leaves like this so I bottom watered it and was misting it as well. Is it done for? Do I cut the leaf off?? Help 😭
Personally I would just leave it. I dont mist any of my plants. I would ignore it, and let it do its thing.

0 likesWhere there’s green there’s photosynthesis lol keep the leaf and only water when dry. I personally think misting is a bit of a myth. I use a humidifier for my plants that require humidity and just let them do their thing. But that being said, birds of paradise are like 50-70% so not high humidity needs really, so I’d just do what you did, repot it, only water when dry and it should recover. Do you use a grow light or window? I use grow lights for everything, and you can get them extremely cheap on amazon. Definitely not a requirement but it could be useful while it recovers. Another helpful way to boost humidity is to group your humidity loving plants together. They create a little microclimate around each other and boost humidity that way
1 like So I use a grow light and it’s hadn’t put out a new leaf in months. She was pretty unhappy with me when I repotted it and then recently it had fungus gnats and now this lol. I actually don’t mist any of my plants, I was just desperate to try anything. And it’s with 4 other plants that are the same humidity, I think she just hates me as of right now lol
0 likesHey if all else fails, and it continues to go south, there’s always rhizome division and propagate it that way! I know it’s not ideal to basically start over but at the end of the day, it would save the plant! I’ve had to do it a few times with my bat flowers and vanilla orchid. They are divas. They are still alive and thriving now that I’ve started over and got the care locked in

1 like I also have another plant with it, when I bought it the roots were together and I didn’t want to separate them. But if I were to clone it do I just cut off a leaf and try to propagate how you would any other plant?? I’ve only propagated a pathos before
0 likesit’s a process , just cut off a good leaf and stick in water or a tissue with water
