So I’ve had this aloe( about 10-12 in tall and 8-10 in wide) for almost a year it was doing amazing and then had SOOOOO many babies so I rehomed all the babies and repotted about 6 months ago and ever since then it’s been going down hill. The ends are dry curling acting like it needs water but then other parts it’s nice and plump. Soil is still wet watered about a month ago. Also when I repotted found out it had root rot and there was no saving it so I chopped that root right off and stuck the plant back in soil. I need advice because this plant isn’t happy like all my other plants! Also I have it under a grow light because of Michigan gloomy weather with barely any strong sun

    It looks like the soil isn't chunky. I think that could be the problem. It needs more orchid bark and pumice or perlite, and charcoal. That's my guess.

      I use perlite and cactus/succulent soil

    Ugh this happened to me too and it was so frustrating! If the soil is still wet from being watered a month ago, that tells me that the soil is staying wet for too long for an Aloe. My guess is that it needs a way smaller pot. You don’t want the pot to be more than 1-2 inches bigger than the size of the roots, and since you had to cut off all the roots, that would mean you need a pretty small pot. Since there’s no roots, you want a pot that’s no more than 1-2 inches bigger than the stem that sits in the soil. I’d recommend repotting it into a smaller planter with dry soil and then waiting a couple weeks to water again. Since the soil is still wet, it might also be worth downloading a light meter app and checking how much light the plant is actually receiving from it. Unfortunately, not all grow lights are created equal. If it’s not getting at least 500-1000 foot candles, it needs more light.

    From the picture, and the soil still being wet after a month, it looks like it needs more perlite and orchid bark

      Just ordered orchard bark. So I should mix orchard bark perlite and cactus soil together??

    Yes mix them all together. I use about 40% soil and the rest is Orchid bark and perlite or pumice (pumice is expensive for me right now) and horticulture charcoal. But you don't really need charcoal so..

      I’ll post a picture once I finish! If this doesn’t fix the problem then I’m rehoming it to someone who can do better then I can, aloes hate me.

    Update: changed soil completely made it makes a pear light, orchard bark and cactus soil, and I downsize the pot insanely because there was only three little roots on it
