Hello! I’m a new plant mom and want to make sure my Alocasia is doing okay. Is it suppose to be droopy like this and the tip of the leaves curled? Any advice would be so helpful! Thank you :)

    IMO, no - it should not droop like this. What’s the lighting like? Also, are you allowing it to dry before watering? I’ve had one throw similar fits when it needed a little fertilizer. Also!!! Check for pests. Good luck! Love these plants even though I find them a little fussy.

      I have it in my living room. It’s probably 4/5 ft from the sliding door which brings in a lot of light. I follow Plantas watering schedule. I just watered it today and it’s showing me to fertilize it in 6 days. How do I check for pests? And what should I be looking for? Do you have a picture of what a healthy one should look like? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you!!

    Do you make sure it is not damp before watering? If not, this may be the issue. I use Planta as a reminder to check if the plant needs watering. I stick my finger in the soil and if it feels damp, then I snooze the reminder to a few days. Pests are usually spotted on the back of the leaves. Scale and mealy bugs are easy to spot. I would google pictures to see examples. Spider mites and thrips are harder. Spider mites - you can usually see very small webbing where the leaf meets the main stem. You can usually find signs on the back of the leaves and often the leaves will become discolored or faded. Thrips - usually you can see little specs of debris but you have to look closely. I use a magnifying glass to inspect. Usually with thrips and mites, you experience leafs drooping, curling or dying. I’m betting the plant is a little too damp between waterings & it’s not pests. Oh! And I forgot another thing to check. If you can pop it out of the pot, check to see if it needs a larger pot. Sometimes that is the issue. I’ll post a photo of mine when I’m home. Usually my stems stand like the larger one in the center.
