my first begonia!! is this just a regular polka dot or a different variety? any advice on their care?

    It's a pretty one. Looks like a regular polka dot to me, sometimes they are called cane begonia. It would do well in a succulent potting mix. No direct sunlight as it will burn the leaves. Don't hesitate to pinch the growing tip once the cane grows up, they can get quite tall but you can also train them to make an arch.

    They do like to dry out some i use a chunky coco coir mix but to each their own on what soil to use.
