Hi! I’m thinking about propagating my polka dot begonia by cutting it in these two places and putting the stem cuttings into soil. I’d also thought about cutting the stems one node up, removing the bottoms leaves and propagating the stems in soil as well as the chopped leaves. Thoughts ?? I’ve never propagated begonias before 🤷🏼♀️
It will propagate easily at the nodes. I did mine in water and had good roots within just a few weeks and I put it in soil and it’s thriving. The rule of thumb with most props is a 2-3 leaf minimum for them to make sure they can absorb nutrients to make roots. So def something to think about to decide where to chop. And bots in this plant can sprout new leaves. They will also propagate with just a leaf and the leaf stem but this way it takes a very long time and has a higher fail rate.

I tried doing it in soil & it just died . I did recently try to prop again & it did way better in water . I have planted it since & it’s doing well.
