Hi begonia lovers, my beautiful Maurice Amey is experiencing powdery mildew. I’ve had other varieties of cane begonia over the last 7 or so years and have never come across this issue with them. First time for everything, I guess! Anyway, can anyone share whether they’ve had success treating it with a weekly fungicide spray? Or did you have to prop it for it to survive? So far I’ve sprayed weekly for about 3 weeks and the powdery mildew seems unbothered and keeps respawning.
Depending on how many leaves are affected/the plant has I would prune off the worst of them. Try not to do it around other plants, maybe outside. Pruned leaves should go into a ziploc bag if you’re gonna use an indoor trash can. These spores spread like wildfire. Alternating fungicides can be effective too. If you’re using a copper base this week, use sulfur next week, and so on.
0 Mi piace Thanks for the tips! The stem is affected as well. I’ve been alternating copper and a diluted methylated spirits. Was worried about the stem situation though and whether that affects things. It’s a young plant and I wanted to avoid killing it 😩😩
0 Mi piace maybe try potassium bicarbonate or baking soda/dish soap/water mix! I’ve heard people online use hydrogen peroxide as well
