   I would be happy to share how I care for my Rex begonias. I have a room size humidifier running during the daytime next to their plant stand. They are under Barrina grow lights 16 hours a day. They dry out considerably between waterings. I do not keep the soil consistently moist. The soil is amended with orchid bark and whatever grit I have on hand, to make it more airy. I also use shallow planters because their roots are usually shallow. Never mist. I have one begonia in semi hydro and it is doing well. One in a large shallow plastic planter, and several in shallow terracotta planters (which is my preference).
