Pull the weeds by hand. Are they in a garden box outside or?

They are, I live in an apartment and whoever used that community garden plot before me didn't maintain it very well. I pull like ten and twenty more pop up within a week, it's endless.

Landscaping cloth is great, as is mulch. As for hand pulling, i recommend identifying your weed species. Start off by pulling the nastiest, toughest species consistently and leaving weaker ones behind, so the weak types can outcompete the worst ones. Each year, focus on the toughest ones that remain, and over time pulling will get easier because the weaker ones will win out. For example in a seriously overgrown area, you might start with sumac and poison ivy, then tackle thistles and mugwort the next year, and eventually end up with only catchweed. There are also some sprays that are formulated to only kill specific plant families

These are constantly popping up near my cherry tomato plants specifically

That's purslane. It has shallow roots and should be pretty easy to pull, but it'll also come back pretty consistently. It's an annual, so to completely remove it you'll need to pull it all before it can set seeds for multiple years in a row. It is edible though, so you could also keep it as a crop

Good to know thanks. Yeah it is nice that it's easy to pull out. What are they used for that??
