Newbie here. This August lily (that’s what this app says it is) is in the shade. It just this week started browning on me. Dr Planta was no help. Any ideas what the browning is?

MoonmommyLooks like a hosta to me which should be in the shade. It looks like you have some new growth. I would guess that leaf is one of the older ones so maybe it’s just giving it up. It might also be overwatering.

HeatherYep, hostas are shade lovers and replace leaves especially if they dry out or get hit with too much direct sun. They are pretty resilient. I had a “sun loving” variety that still got crispy because of Tennessee summers. I transplanted it to a shady spot under a birch tree and it has put out a dozen new leaves in the last couple of weeks. You can trim the dying leaf off, it won’t hurt it. 😊
