Hello! I am gardening for the first time and the planta app is recommending to remove the tomato plant suckers. I read about it and some people say to leave it if you want more smaller tomatoes and remove if you want less but bigger tomatoes. Is that correct? If I want to remove, are these the suckers? They are still very small.
No…suckers are the new branches that sprout at leaf joints and you definitely will want to remove the majority of them. Too many allowed and not only does the plant focus on foliage instead of fruit but it can create airflow issues as well. Your photo is actually flower buds that will become tomatoes if they are pollinated!
